This coffee comes from the Sidamo region south of the capital, Addis Ababa. The region is famous for having ideal climate conditions for growing coffee, due to its high altitude, ample rainfall, optimal temperature, and rich soil.
Our supplier BELCO sourced this fully traceable Sidamo thanks to the good work done with the Adola washing station. Adola collects coffee from 10-20km surrounding producers. Which is a great step toward traceability: the small producers hold between 0.5ha and 2ha sell their cherries to the station and are paid immediately. Their cherries are handled with care during the fully washed process and the collectors finance all 4 months activities before exportation. This is for us important in terms of financial sustainability.
