Taste profile: Notes of raw cane sugar (Panela in Colombia) and jasmine. Delicate body with a refined cup and an elegant finish.
Women are protagonists in the Colombian Specialty Coffee. Female producers have given proof of their growing empowerment nowadays. The growing participation of women in the coffee industry has translated into greater welfare for their families and communities, because of the key role they play in reinvestment and distribution of income. This is evident also in Cauca where our Women Coffee Growers Program
is taking place. Our Partner Coffee Growers ApS (a newly established Company with the goal of promoting Caucan coffee from ASCAFE cooperative in Europe), have developed this social project to support the empowerment of women along the global coffee supply chain by creating equity, empowerment, and access to a wider market.
Gender equality is an indispensable condition for day-to-day coexistence in ASCAFE and for strengthening the relationship with its members, as well as for its development as a socially responsible economic organization. In guaranteeing gender equality and thus compliance with women’s rights in our organization, one guarantees optimization of the performance of staff and also better attention to members, regarding them as owners, clients and investors.
This requires a clear vision and the urgency to set up actions towards seeking a strong
integration between the development of women in terms of their empowerment and
participation in management, and the transformations needed by the cooperative structures at every level to become democratic and equal spaces, friendly towards the participation of women with equal opportunities and treatment, turning this equality into a daily practice.
